# Your first OpMode

The simplest structure is a **`LinearOpMode`**. It runs top to bottom and lets you write your own loop.

Create `FirstOpMode.java` in `TeamCode/java/org/firstinspires/ftc/teamcode/`:

public class FirstOpMode extends LinearOpMode {

    @Override
    public void runOpMode() {
        telemetry.addLine("Initialized. Press PLAY to start.");
        telemetry.update();

        waitForStart();

        while (opModeIsActive()) {
            telemetry.addData("Status", "Running");
            telemetry.addData("Runtime (s)", getRuntime());
            telemetry.update();
        }
    }
}
```

### Anatomy of a `LinearOpMode`

* `runOpMode()` — the one required method.
* Code before `waitForStart()` — init.
* `waitForStart()` — pauses until PLAY.
* `while (opModeIsActive())` — the main loop.
* `telemetry.update()` — sends telemetry to the Driver Station.

Deploy it, select **First OpMode**, then press INIT and PLAY. If the runtime increases, your robot program is running.
